ICSynergy is Making Today’s Complicated IAM Landscape Simple

As the new year kicks off into high gear, we’ve been encountering a large uptick in organizations looking into SaaS-based IAM solutions; to think, customers used to use a single vendor to satisfy all of their IAM needs back when everything was on-premises — vendors like Oracle, CA, and IBM — but today IAM products are niche and specialized (though we do expect Oracle to release an all-encompassing solution soon).

This industry specialization leads to companies adopting a multi-vendor/cloud strategy to cover all their requirements. It’s this landscape that led us to create the SPGateway in the first place, creating the glue holding these specialized vendors together.

An example of this is if a company deploys Okta to enable authentication and authorization and Single Sign-On, then uses Sailpoint for user provisioning and access certification. This is a common scenario we’ve encountered and is supported by an official partnership between the two companies. Meanwhile, ServiceNow has become the go-to solution for building workflows for the enterprise and deals with approvals and JIRA tickets nicely.

At the surface, it may seem complicated to use three different products from three different vendors to enable your identity and access management solution, but it would have been near impossible to do this in the past.

Out with the Old, in with the New

Only ten years ago this type of application integration would have been a complete nightmare. The systems of the time were very complex to install in the first place, let alone trying to integrate them. Most didn’t even come with API connectivity/integrations.

Fortunately, this changed when SaaS was introduced to the marketplace. Since many of these applications were being built from the ground up, it afforded developers the luxury of building in connectivity. Apps are meant to be integrated with each other; a primary difference in contrast with their on-prem predecessors.

As you look to the market for point solutions, you’ll find that many exist in the IAM space. These applications were birthed by the opportunity to be leveraged with other applications and strongly position organizations to tackle the most complex IAM requirements today.

Specialized Apps Lead to the Rise of Specialized Systems Integrators

Given all of the options available to your organization in building the ideal IAM solution, it’s unlikely that you’ll have experts on staff for every technology. That’s why ICSynergy provides professional services.

As a leading integrator of Hybrid IAM solutions for seventeen years, we’ve partnered with our clients to assist them in making the best decisions when selecting an IDaaS, traditional on-premise Identity Management solution, or a combination of both.

ICSynergy is often selected to play an advisory role in the architecture and integration of Hybrid IAM solutions, including an IDaaS for enterprise access management and an on-premise Identity Governance and Admin (IGA) solution. We’ve built our professional services teams to support the best-in-breed technologies; it’s our business to know the best way to architect an IAM solution for you.

If you’re just starting to review products, are in the process of onboarding new technologies, or are even in the middle of a project and want a second opinion, our team is ready to discuss.
